This side event was organized jointly by UNECE, UNCTAD, UNESCO Institute for Statistics, OECD, Eurostat and ITU.

The objective of the workshop was to bring ICT data and indicators into the realm of official statistics, so that current global data gaps can be identified and closed. The 2-day event featured an opening and a closing session, as well as substantive sessions including (i) the role of ICT in economic and societal transformations, (ii) individual and household use of ICT, (iii) business usage of ICT, and (iv) measuring social implications of ICT.

UNCTAD was lead agency in organizing two sessions on business usage of ICT, supported by OECD. UNECE and UNCTAD took responsibility for organizing the opening session of the event.
