The 2nd Regional Preparatory Conference for WSIS followed up on the outcome of the Geneva phase and launched regional preparations for the Tunis phase. One of the main issues was the measurement of the information society – collaboration in the specification of appropriate indicators, timely data collection/dissemination and building a regional framework for monitoring progress.

The conference considered the outcome of the Beirut roundtable on Information Society indicators (October 2004, see below).
