Core Indicators, Statistics, and Data Collection

7-10 June, 10h00 - 18h00
Beirut, Lebanon

The workshop was the first to be held on capacity building for the statistical measurement of the IS in Western Asia and the Arab region. Generally speaking, the objective of the workshop was to help countries acquire the expertise to determine their own data needs and priorities, as well as to collect, interpret and use these data.

Specifically, the purpose of the workshop was to introduce the participants to the process of developing indicators with relevance to policy making and decision support, with regards to monitoring progress, measuring output, and assessing impact; to familiarize them with available indicators and basic definitions, data collection methods, and data management and information dissemination devices; and to help with the formulation of national and regional capacity building plans.
