The workshop built upon the results of the meeting conducted in the 2006 in the region on the same subject. It discussed definitions, collection methodologies and data collection issues both for infrastructure indicators and household ICT statistics, as well as other ICT indicators. The meeting assisted the Members in the process of ICT Statistics collection and use, more specifically:

a) to inform the Members of the ICT indicators in the region from various UN and other Inter-governmental agencies, their purpose and data availability;

b) to discuss indicators currently collected by ITU including definitions;

c) the need for new indicators and their collection methodology;

d) the use of these indicators in policy making and regulation;

e) to discuss challenges related to information society measurements, present possible solutions and identify technical assistance needs.
