At the IGF, the Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development held an
Open Forum on
International Collaboration for Measuring ICT for Development
The focus of the Open Forum was the advancements and remaining challenges of the international collaboration for measuring ICT for development. The Director of the Brazilian Institute of Statistics (IBGE), Mr. Eduardo Nuñes, underlined the importance of ICT measurement for national statistics authorities. Brazil, for example, already adopted the recommendations for ICT core indicators that had been developed by the Partnership and had been endorsed by the 38th session of the UN Statistical Commission (New York, March 2007). The indicators have been integrated in recent household questionnaires of Brazil and will be included in the upcoming enterprise surveys. The Partnership emphasized the heterogeneous advancements in the collection of indicators. Some regions, such as Latin America, show impressive progress, while others are still not obtaining basic indicators.
