The Expert Group meeting, which is organized jointly by UNCTAD and the UN Statistics Division, discussed the first version of the UNCTAD Manual for the Production of Statistics on the Information Economy. It provided suggestions for review, with a view to submit a second version of the Manual for approval by the 40th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in 2009.

The expert group meeting preceded the Global Event on Measuring the Information Society (Geneva, 27-29 May) that was organized by the Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development.
