for Francophone African countries

7-11 December, 09h00 - 18h00
Rabat, Morocco

UNCTAD is delivering a training course on ICT statistics for Francophone African Countries, organized with the support of UNECA and its sub-regional office, to be held from 7 to 11 December 2009 in Rabat, Morocco. The course is aimed at statistical officials from Francophone Africa. Attendance to the course is by invitation only and there will be 25 participants from 18 countries.

The course in Rabat aims at improving the capacity of official data producers in developing countries to produce internationally comparable statistics on ICT. These statistics support ICT for development policies in countries. During the training course, a briefing on the third phase of UNECA’s Scan-ICT programme will be held.

The course will include interactive discussions of the concepts related to measuring the information society, and practical exercises. At the end of the course, participants will become familiar with the internationally agreed core list of ICT indicators, and with the institutional and methodological framework needed to carry out ICT statistical work.
